First Timer, Looking for Credible Agents

I am not really new. I am just a lurker. I have been for some time now. So I figured I'd join. My problem is I have or had a list of agents I wantted to submit to. I have submitted to top agents with reputations, and have been rejected, now I am down to a list. And it seems that every agent I look up is shady, or just uncredible. Their clients hate them.

Is there a list of good agents, non-scammers, for Intermediate (aka: Juvenile) fantasy fiction authors?

I don't want to have to go through board after board, and 5 different sites. I just need a list of 10 good agents. Anyone able to help?

You're probably better off posting this question under "Bewares and Background Checks" - you'll get a lot more attention from your question there from people who have answers for you.

2 possibles

two possible ideas. First try the "Beware and Background Checks" thread. There are indexes of agents and loads of info. Second, try a thread in your chosen genre. Those are writers likely to know which agents represent your type of work.

One last thought: Spend some time choosing an agent. Shop around. (Still good advice--thanks Mama.) Don't necessarily grab the first one who gives you a sniff. Ask around. Find out who is legit. Ask the agent questions.

Dont want to bust your bubble but:
1. Because a client does not like their agent it does not mean they are not "credible" agents...just means they dont like them
2. Boards like AW are great places for advice etc. But if you need an agent and know what genre you are looking for...
Go for LMP or some other "respected" source of literary agent listings...
You have to match the agent or agency with your genre...

Hey it is tedious work...but it has to be done

Welcome, Mary. I was in the Phoenix Valley for 24 years (moved a little over two years ago). I can't help much with your genre as far as agent are concerned, but there are others here with direct experience.
