probably watching DARK KNIGHT
The Brood: A woman's therapy causes her to get blood blisters all over her body. The blisters swell into wombs, and babies with no belly buttons come out and kill people when she gets mad.

Parasite Eve: Mitochondria team up to take over the world.

The Birds: Some birds fly around and kill people. Oooh!

What other movies are cool to watch, but sound stupid when you describe them?

The Terminator:robot from the future comes to kill someone's ancestors.
this almost works for any Schwarzenegger movie, except the ones that are just bad movies, but all the plots are pretty stupid

Memento:guy with no short term memory bent on revenge, starts at the end and goes backwards.
almost brought in Leprechaun in the Hood, but I didn't want to admit I enjoyed it.

Kil Bill: the plot for this one reeks of Fox Force Five from Pulp Fiction. perhaps intentionally

Any B movie from the fifties:

radiation mutates whatever-it-is into something ginormous that immediately runs amok and eats people.

I don't think it's from the 50's but Day of the Triffids comes to mind. I don't know that I'd call it a cool movie though

jbal, you're on fire.

The Big Chill: Some friends from college get together and talk. They sometimes have fun and sometimes get on each other's nerves.

How about Monster On Campus (I think it was called). Such a druggie movie it was funny. Scientist discovers frozen prehistoric fish whose seeping blood turns him into a werewolf. The stuff drips into his pipe, and, when he smokes it, instant werewolf. Being a gateway...fish, he eventually injects some into his arm and goes ballistic. Great fun, especially if you're high...I mean, if you like that sort of thing.

Star Trek: First Contact - Evil cyborgs go into Earth's past to destroy their future, and only the Enterprise can stop them!

....you know, I enjoyed Star Trek, bless its little heart, but if you boil down most any of it to a couple of lines, it's cheesy.

I haven't seen this movie, so I can't tell you if it's cool or not, but I can't resist the chance to describe the plot for this one.

Roller Blade: In a post-apocalyptic future, a group of roller skating amazon nuns worship the Have a Nice Day smiley face. Wal-Mart should arrange a tie-in.

A duck falls through a wormhole and lands in 1980's Earth and wins over the people with some mad guitar skillz.

Howard the Duck.

A kid befriends a computer driven UFO. Hilarity ensues with a great scene with them flying around to the Beach Boys "Get Around".

Flight of the Navigator.

I'm sorry, I must have missed something. Where was I when Howard The Duck became cool? ;)

When I was 10 or whenever it came out, it was right up there with the live action He-Man. Right now, I'd have to see it again. It might not be that cool.

Kind of like how I was a huge Knight Rider fan. Then I noticed that there was a rerun on late at night a few years ago. I stayed up to 3am to watch it (didn't even cross my mind to record it). It wasn't as exciting as I remember. Just a step up from watching eggs boil: there's chance that of excitement or something boiling over but it's still just an egg. If that makes sense... :)

That's nothing to do with Knight Rider, that's just the effect of watching Hasslehoff.

The Day after Tomorrow: Global Warming. Earth's temp. decreases 100 degrees in a few days.

Come to think of it, I hated that movie...hmm...let's see...ok, From Dusk Till Dawn. I love that movie. Two robber/brothers kidnap a family to take them across the border. they stop at a bar and the whole thing turns into a campy, drive-in style exploitation flick. but it was cool.

Once in every generation, a karate tournament is held in an alternate dimension that will decide the fate of all mankind. If the bad guy wins ten of these tourneys in a row, the Earth is doomed. And, of course, we learn the bad dude has already won nine.

Mortal Kombat.

When a young man beats the high score on an arcade game, he learns that it is actually a testing computer for the Galactic High Command, and now he's been chosen to stand against the evil armada which threatens to sweep the galaxy.

--The Last Starfighter. (and I adore that movie, so say thee one bad thing about it, and kneecaps shall break)
