One Stands Golden

summer tumbling, green to gold
emminent headlong plunge
to russet, soon.
on hillside sea of flora-green
One stands golden.

slow the followers
change their hue,
yellow-tipped reluctant
they shine in sun
gold on blue, contrast the edge
light bleeds through,
translucent.
but one,
Golden before them.
proud, she leads them
to their new beauty
new season
on a hillside sea of flora-green
One stands golden.

thanks, Perks. I was driving yesterday and saw a hillside of trees all green, a few tipped with yellow and one, just bold and gorgeous bright gold in the middle of them all leading the way, and I thought, "That's Maryn."
