Can anything else go wrong

Ok so this week started as usual, work, write, read, cook, laundry,no problem then Friday comes and all hell breaks loose. I lost a family member in a tragic accident. Then I got a call at work, it is raining in my dining room which wouldn't be too bad if I had not just redid my kitchen and dining room over complete with new ceilings. A pipe burst in the ceiling from a bathroom upstairs. As if that is not bad enough, my sister called to tell me she just lost her job.... normally I look for the positive side of everything like thankfully no one got hurt from a falling ceiling, sister can always find a new job and the death, even though tragic, he did not suffer. I am having a hard time finding something positive in all this

Terrible news. I'm so sorry to hear it. My condolences to you. Take a deap breath and do something to take care of yourself.

When my mom recently passed I wrote in the first hours of knowing. I was distraught.

Deal with one thing at a time and take it easy.

I think someone might move this thread because it's in the wrong place. Possibly Office Party, so don't be surprised. Okay.

Sometimes I think the only positive in these situations is that it's so bad, you'll be especially grateful for the good when that comes back round. And it will.

Good luck.

I hope you had home owners insurance to cover this. If so, make sure all damages are compensated for.

Another job will come along. It's a new chance for something better, all she has to do is believe in herself and open her eyes.

When life knocks you down you have two choices;

1.) stay down and take whatever it decides to 'give' you.
2.) get back up and take what you want from it.

Good luck, Jo. We're pulling for ya.

So I shouldn't sit in the closet with this bottle of wine

So, I shouldn't sit here in the closet with a bottle of wine

Hell NO! Tequila dulls the pain much quicker and the worm at the bottom of the bottle is a good source of extra protein!

:O!!!! I'm really sorry to hear about all that. I hope you're starting to feel better now.

You're under no obligation to find positive aspects of tragic and catastrophic occurrences-- self-pity and anger are perfectly valid ways to feel sometimes.

Drinking is good too, though.

Jongfan, I'm so sorry. Too many terrible things have happened to you all at once. If we can help, even just by giving you someplace to escape to mentally, please call on us. Since you seem to be able to joke a little, that's good. Laughter and tears are really the only way to get through times like these.

My advice is, as bad as you feel, as hard as it is dealing with your flood and supporting your sister and your family, take pleasure in all the little things you can. In sunny days, in a calm walk, in good food, even in tequila. It's the little things that keep us going when the big things are impossible to deal with.

Wishing you all the best - you'll look back a long time from now and find out what was good in the midst of the disasters.

Jongfan--

I'm so sorry. Let me say, I understand completely when you say "the death, even though tragic-- he didn't suffer". Sometimes, that's all the comfort we can find, and if that's so, that *has* to be enough for us.

When life throws punches like this at me (and it does, frequently), I have to step back, find "some quiet in my own head" and (please forgive silly me, I'm hearing the Beatles...) "Let It Be". Myself, I keep a fantasy in my head, of a calm, white-sand beach... ready to snatch off the shelf in my mind, for just these situations.

The others here are right-- The AW Cooler is just the place to find some solace. "Talking" it out may be just the ticket.
