Happy Hooker as in the crochet book? Crochet is really really big right now and there are almost no titles in print, so I say go for it.

ooooh! Still waiting for my number. I'd better just sign off and have a beer. I'm sure it will be there in the morning. I can't believe how quickly Miss Snark is getting the hooks up... she's at 20 already.
Mistri, I wished you used the full 250 because yours sounded interesting, banned perfumes & all.

I was also number 52, and that one fared a little better - I actually thought it would be the other way around

Hey Misty, IMO number 52 is the BEST till now. I was just reading from the top (after reading the first 50 earlier) and number 52 is really the only one that grabbed me - even though it's not in a genre I read. I almost commented, but decided against it. Nice to discover that it's yours! Some of the entries drive me to despair. Poor, brave Miss Snark! And she's got hundreds more to go.

I was 46. Snark's comments weren't really that helpful, well, unless I wanted to totally rework the plot of my book, which I don't. She basically said it's outdated and worked for Clueless, not for me. I've actually never seen Clueless.

Oh well. It's nice of Miss Snark to do this in the first place, so I should be happy I got any feedback at all.

Heh, well n.52 is something I wrote three years ago. If she asks me for pages (I'm not sure whether saying it's a hook is the same as asking) I've got some slightly dodgy writing to edit

Good luck and congrats to all the other crapometer adventurers

(Provrb: you got a good comment - in the comment section - though!)

I don;t know how she does it. I find it difficult to read any more - which is a pity for the ones that come later. I probably just skim them, apart form the winners.

Congratulations, DQ! And sounds that there's an agent interested "if the writing is good". Could be Jennay Rappaport; she did that with another of the crapometers.

I know, I saw that and I'm terrified. The book has only been through one edit so far! I didn't plan to start querying until February.

(Of course, it good just be some anon making a comment, so I'm trying not to freak out.)

I'm number 586. It's going to be a while and I'm already cringing. I'm pretty sure I know what she's going to say too judging from other comments she's made.

"This isn't a hook, it's a synopsis."

So we'll see.

I've got a number too, but it's for a novel, not my nonfiction work. It's number 186, and while it isn't a synopsis, I realized she really doesn't like hooks that emphasize dangers to just the protagonist. There is a lot more at stake in my book - I think I may have just made the hook a bit too personal.
