As we suspected. They are using the url's to block all access, hence the new board.

Where, and when is the show?

BookExpo America is June 2 - 5 at the Javitz Center in New York City. It is not a show for authors but a show for publishers and their supporting vendors to exhibit to booksellers (bookstores), reviewers, international and subsidiary rights buyers.

He also thinks that the way to get around the bookstores-won't-stock-me problem is to put the book into hair dressers' salons. He's also the driving force behind the 200 authors book.

His book came out this week. We'll see how long it takes him to get slapped upside the head by reality.

200 hundred authors should allow for at least a book of some length.

73 Pages? I have hope that he doesn't call it a novel, but a short story of Fantasy.

Mine's not much larger at 109...

But at least it fits nicely in a 6 x 9 catalog envelope...if nothing else...

New PA releases?

Anyone notice that it's been almost two weeks since there were any announcements of new releases over at PA? Used to be every week, and at least 2-300 at a time, if I recall what I read here correctly.

Anyone wanna bet that they will not break 100 new books the next time that they update?

I'd like to address this once again. Many of us are banned over there on PA, MOST of us are speaking out against PA and are aware that they could have moles watching, so what? At least they can't ban us from that site. Many are authors from PA that have come over here and are now enjoying banter with people they haven't been able to post with in a long time. I continue to refer people who have a serious desire to write and make a career of it to come here and peruse these boards and other services offered here. So, don't assume that the lot of us are namby-pamby PA well wishers hoping to get back on the board. When I posted last on the PAMB, I told them that I, for one, would not be begging to get back in!

If you accept the definition of "vanity publisher" that I've proposed (a publisher whose sole or main income derives from author payments, whether before or after the fact), you can simply call PA a vanity publisher, period.

Well spoken Aryn (As is always the case with any post you make) I'm simply referring to any more migrations and posts inquiring about things here. My first few posts here were innocent enough and posted no real danger to PA or their image. I merely add, if they have the ability to screen out and dismiss the lurkers early in the enlightement process, there board remains that much cleaner and "Utopian". I have made no assumptions pertaining to any Ex Pa'er and will not ever attempt it. Each one of the banned has a mind and a keyboard and is free to express his/her opinion without me making an assumption for said Author.

Very Respectfully,

-Sparhawk

Ah, some things always stay the same...

...on the "Shemp re-emergence for the eighty-second time thread," we find that Spar's well thought out anti-Shemp post is gone, as well as pachick's referring to me by name in the thread. I guess PA realized that, 99 times out of 100, if AW or a "Big Eight" member is mentioned on their boards that such reference is immediately removed. Allowing the post with my name in it to stay up several hours would seem to indicate that "pachick" must carry some major stroke over at PA - imagine that!

The now highly edited thread is right here:

http://bb.publishamerica.com/viewtop...t=1950&start=0

P.S. All I can say is that Shemp must have some pics of Meiners partying nude with a bunch of Brazilian wharf rats or something...

The new board thing is quite simply explained.

Too many detrators emerging.

Wipe the slate clean.

Leave him to foster the newbies.

Dump your most honored author, yep, Mother Hen is done.

They are so easy to figure out.

Miranda is now posting as pachick because there is no one left. She has added herself to the board to help HIM hurrah the newbies.

Lock, and reload for the next cash cow.

I have to admit I was really skeptical about PA's dedication to that guy, but after today I no longer have any doubt that they're in bed together *somehow*. (Details are in the shemp thread.) I still don't understand why because he sells no books, his presence fractures the PA board, and PA's stance behind him makes most outsiders laugh their asses off. He may have been a golden boy a couple years ago, but now he's a huge liability.

I'm starting to think you're right, Ed. It's gotta be blood.

I think "he" came back just so people would think that he was closer in the PA thing then he is..

It's all just one long scheme to mess with people's minds.

From a "published" PA author:

Quote:
Greeting from the state of Kentucky. I'm a new aurthor and just logged on last night. Was trying to talk to aurthors about getting my book out to the public. Have goten a lot of feedback about bookmarks and talking to the bookstores. For me that might just do it.
The only thing that might do, I'm afraid, is to garner you a lot of disappointment.
Quote:
I would like some feedback on my website also. My husband created it for me. I have had family and a few friends think it's cool and I guess thats great, but I need to know if it catches the interests of anyone or of everyone.
Well, that's the problem, hon. You see, just having a web site will not gain you readers. Handing out a few bookmarks will not gain you many. What you need it placement on bookstores shelves nationwide where the readers can see and pick up and decide to buy your book.

And you won't get that with PA.

Quote:
The name of my book is Blood Tears. Was released Jan 10' 05. I was biting nails and nervous wating for my aurthor copies. I was nervous when PA said they would publish it for me. There is nothing short of holding your own child in your hands that even comes close to making you feel when you hold you first publish book.
