Hey there, hello--my name is "temerity" and I'm new to the boards! Well, actually...to the entire site. I'm a word-addict and I've been searching for somewhere to develop my prose and to chat with other writers (at the expense, it turns out, of a biology test tomorrow).

Hope to see everyone on the boards!
Is there any particular section you'd recommend?

Hello, O well-named temerity!

Welcome... and nail that bio test! We'll be here, and you'll be addicted soon enough.

Personally, I recommend the Poetry Forum, though I might be biased. Other than that, it's all good -- have a leisurely stroll around, ask questions, butt in, and try it all out!

Okay, I had to look that up! One of those words I know but umm, well, ...

Cool name! (now that I really know what it means :D )

I'm still pretty new too so I'm still exploring. Hope your test went well!!

Welcome, temerity! I agree with Poet about the Poetry forum... but I'm biased too.

Welcome! All of the boards are helpful. It depends on what you like to write.

:welcome:

I'm going to throw in a plug for my personal favorite Suddenly Fiction (hmm, maybe a little bias creeping in there too ;)) - especially if you like to write very short stories.

For posting your work, check out the forums under Share Your Work. There are sub-forums under some other areas too that allow you to post your work for comment.

For discussions, there are the writing studios - which include: Poetry, Writing Novels and Writing Short Fiction, as well as the Suddenly forum and lots of others. Or hop on over to the Get with the Genre forums to join in the genre specific discussions.

If you're trying to get published, the "Bewares and Background Checks" section is essential. If you want critique, try the "Share Your Work" section. For chatting, everything else.

Hello, temerity, and welcome! I'd recommend checking out the freelance forum. There's more to learn that your head can hold, there's all sorts of odd--I mean fun--folks over there, and jdkiggins runs a contest over there to help us prepare for writing submission ready stuff. (The April contest is just finishing up--you can go read the entries here (password is deadline):
http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60117 and vote and then join us for May. We'd love to have you--although I can't promise we'll behave.)

Hey Temerity,
Nice to meet you.
I'd recommend taking the full tour of AW. There is a lot of great information here!
