Exclamation New here

My name is Tim, I am 26yrs old, and I am looking for a writing partner, and a mentor to help lead me forward...

A lot of good writers say you should draw on your own experiences and work from there, if you can emotionally connect with your characters, then there is a good chance that others will too, this is why my first work will be loosley based on myself. Kind of a biopic about my strange and wonderful life, with a few things distorted and changed, claiming artistic licence lmao...

Some people may say wow, doesn't sound that interesting, but if you knew me, and knew me well, then you would know what a f****d up life I have led, ranging from abuse, to self conflict, to drug/alcohol problems, too getting shot at, and everything in-between...

My only issue is getting pen to paper in the way I would like, it's been a life long dream of mine to be a writer, and now I am at a stage in my life where I can make it a reality, with a little help...

So pm me, reply here, do what u can, and let me know if you can help me...

Hi, Tim.

It sounds like you have plenty of material stored up to start your writing life. When you have a chance, check out the forum, Mentors & Writing Partners, located here. You might find someone there who is willing to help you along. In the meantime, feel your way around the forums and read as much as you can. There's a wealth of info here that's free for the taking.

Good luck, and welcome to AW.

Tim, which country are you in? Just curious.. btw I am a fiction writer: disgustingly soppy romance novels, like pancakes with extra syrup, and bananas on top! [ that would be the humour in them, I guess]
Welcome to the boards, check out all the different sections.

I'm british, and nothing wrong with a romance novel, I did write one, well half of one, but with my own twisted view on life it soon turned into something resembling a Stephen King novel crossed with Hollyoaks, so I gave up, but kudos to those that can do it

this may seem like a plug, but I'm trying to be helpful too (honest).. Tim, maybe you could use storywar.com to practice writing excerpts.. and for reading other people's shorts? There are no ads, just loads of stories.
whatever you decide, good luck with the new venture!
