A Mango Shaped-Space

I just finished this book a second ago...and it was pretty good. Nothing too surprising happened, but it was interesting and held my attention.

But I was really confused by the last two paragraphs. Has anyone else read it? Can you explain to me what happened? I feel like I'm missing something...
