Elvis-'68 Comeback Special

I came across the show on TVLand the other night and just had to watch. I hadn't seen the whole show since I was very little, and even then we had a fuzzy, black and white tv. Seeing Elvis sing, move around, and joke brought home to me how very charismatic he was. I used to be just crazy about him when I was growing up, had over 40 records, plus posters, t-shirts, books, etc. I put away that stuff as I hit teenager-hood, but now I see Elvis mania everywhere. I'm just in it for the music now, appreciating how unique he was, and looking up my favorite albums in CD format. But it's funny just how many people will approach me in a store, once they see me looking at the Elvis CDs, and strike up a clandestine conversation about how much they like him too, as if the 'cool' police were going to come up and bust them for being out of line.

I love that '68 special and am way overdue to see it again. It's Elvis the way I prefer to remember him.

That was a great show. Seeing him just sit there with a guitar and play ... I agree with Frank, that's how I like to remember him; as Elvis the musician, not Elvis the entertainment product.

I was young, confused and in an experimental phase during that time but I am glad that you liked it.
