Pet Gazette

I've got all I can handle right now. Thanks!

The Pet Gazette is a regional monthly publication in Massachusetts. We also have a small but growing online presence. (www.petgazette.net) Our readers are 35,000 pet lovers all over Southeastern Mass basically from Quincy to Provincetown. The Pet Gazette has been around since 1996.

I am looking for one or two freelancer writers to contribute feature-length articles for the Pet Gazette on an occasional basis. Topics could range from the how-to to current events such as dog-fighting scandal. They should also be localized to our area. We also invite interested writers to submit shorter pieces on a non-paying basis in exchange for a byline and tag at the end.

To give you some idea our recent cover stories included dealing with the death of a beloved pet, a prison-training program for seeing eye dogs, and summer pet-friendly vacation getaway ideas.

Our normal rate $150 for a fully-developed feature (1200-1800 words). I might consider more if for a seasoned writer with a really compelling idea, but we are not a large outfit and thus can't afford anything much more than that.

If you are interested or want more details feel free to drop me a line with your pitch and some writing samples. jcutler@clipperpress.com

Thanks for the response. I've gotten a dozen or so good inquiries.

Give me a couple days to review them and I will get back to you. I'm currently in agent query hell myself so I promise I will respond to everyone.
