I'm actually quite dizzy right now, I can hardly type and my hands are shaking...so pardon any typos. I just got a call from the aq. ed. at the pub who requested the insane turn-around time on the book proposal.

:hooray: :hooray:I GOT IT!!!!!!:hooray::hooray:

So, thanks to everyone for their support, crossed fingers, words of encouragement etc. etc. etc.

They main and assistant eds are drafting some Qs for me and suggestions for additions to my outline as well as the contract and schedule, all of which, I'm told I'll receive by Friday.

HOLY CATS! I'm beside myself.

The only sucky thing is that you guys all know before my DH does, because he wasn't at his desk, or was on another call, and I got voice mail and to me, this kind of news is well, kind of like telling him you're pregnant, it's not the kind of message you just leave on voice mail.

Oh yeah...I forgot...I did promise to share who the pub is and the book topic after I found out.

The pub is Publications International and the book is on letter writing. My proposed title was "The 'Write' Words for Any Occasion: A Guide to Everyday Writing." Who knows if it will change though? I guess it all depends on how much they liked the title.

Thanks. I'm seriously thinking that there's an article waiting to happen in there along the lines of producing the "emergency" NF book proposal. LOL. As if I need more on my plate.

Boy, I'm away for an afternoon, and look what happens? Congrats, Erika! How did the DH take it?

He was really psyched--but cautiously excited, since he knows what the pre-publication frenzy can be like. The last time I worked with the same pub, I had a 4 mo. project deadline which turned into a 2-week deadline.
Yes...you read that correctly...two weeks. (Only doable, because it was right up my alley.) But, since I've got a little more experience now, hopefully, I can make sure that sticking to the original deadlines on both ends of the arrangement is worded in the contract. I shall find out in 2 days...I'm supposed to see all of the details on Friday.

I also think that he secretly fears my propensity for sleepless-nights-project-myopia when I get kicked into high gear. ;)

I just peeked in this thread and read yours, wanting to say well done and I wish you all the best in your work.

Take care,

Alexandra
