Close, but no banana....I received an email this morning from one of the publishers who requested the full.

Mr. McAfee,

Thank you for the submission XXXXXX, it is a very well received manuscript, thought provoking and very well written. However, at this time, we will not be accepting this submission. Please do know the submission is excellent. We do not have a suitable place for it at this time.

It's nice they thought it was thought provoking and well-written, but the bottom line is no matter how complimentary a "no" is, it's still a "no."

Rejections can sting, especially ones that jab you right in the eye (I hate that when that happens). Glad to hear that this one was encourageing and respectful of your work.

At least you know the book is good. Keep subbing and you'll find the right publisher for it.

The manuscript is still at four other publishers. I'm still confident. I was just a little thrown off this morning because I was sure this particular house would want it.
