Any other fans get this? Yes, they suckered me into buying it a second time because of the bonus disk.

But some very cool behind-the-scenes stuff, plus more Joss, which is always worth the bucks.

And considering how many "extended scenes" and "deleted scenes" there were, I expect we'll see a Director's Cut edition eventually.

Which I would also buy, at least partly because the extended scenes on the bonus disk were mostly character stuff, which I'd love to see integrated back into the movie.

The only negative feeling I had about that movie (which I watched again last night) was that it was too damned short. Chock-full of action, but too short.

You can still order it from Amazon.com and if they won't ship to the UK i know www.chapters.indigo.ca will. I order stuff from Amazon.co.uk all the time. Shipping isnt that bad at all. Half of my McNab books come from the UK because I cant wait for them to be released here, usually several months later.

I found recently that my dirt-cheap Asda DVD player (bought with the change from down the back of the sofa) is multi-region. I'd downloaded the unlock code for nothing. phooey.

I thought mine was completely multi-region as it played stuff from all over but when I bought the US version of a series of 24, it wouldn't work. I got the code off the web and bingo! Jack Bauer in all his killing baddies and shouting glory.

I had to laugh when it worked and the first thing on screen was a big message from the FBI, saying not to do anything dodgy with the dvd.

Most non-region one players are hackable. It seems they build them with a default to region one, then add in a bit of extra hardware to shift them to another region - which means you can usually access the original hardware and hack them (don't ask me how that works, that's the explanation I got

).

Sadly, cheap region-free players are hard to come by here in the US.

Cath, who has two dvd players - one to record stuff and one to play all her international dvds.

Failing to hack into mine, I found it much easier to cable-up my laptop to the TV and simply play the other region's DVDs on the pc and watch them on the TV.

But one of these days I'll find a reliable region-free player.

I'm asking for this for Christmas, and considering how many family and friends I got Joss-obsessed with one episode of Buffy, I expect I'll get it and be roped into a big Serenity-viewing party.

I'd rather see more episodes.

Me too. Doesn't seem very likely, though. Unless there's a rumor out there I haven't heard? (oh please oh please oh please)

Well here in the UK you can't get it, and as i don't have an infernal credit card, i will just have to wait.
HOWEVER. There will be a serenity sequel if the special dvd release is a success. I quote from an interview with alan tudek below.

They had to put [the new DVD] out because they’ve been selling out of the other one and so Universal’s like ‘So, let’s do another one’. And now… there’s now a chance there’s going to be another movie".

I don't remember where I read it, but flashbacks were mentioned as a possible way to include Wash. Also, having River "see" him.

Sony's are trickiest, but a friend of mine even did that (Infra red rather than button pushing - Sony are Serious)

Didn't Joss say that a sequel would have Book and Wash in it.

Yep, nobody "dies" in SF, not with all the ways of bringing characters back -- to life, or in flashback, or as disembodied energy or ghosts, or in some version of their former self. Buffy "died" twice, after all. Angel died (or was banished to hell, at least). Spike died. Fred died and came back as what's her name, with the very cool costume and abilities. If the two series had continued, I'm reasonably sure we would have seen Cordy, Wes, and Anya again, and probably Tara.

It would be nice to see Wash and Book back.

But as long as we get more of the Jossverse, I don't care which characters occupy it.

I love all of them.

Whedon has stated before that dead isn't always dead. I'm going back through the series DVDs and find myself trying to think up ways they could bring Wash back. Maybe there's an alternate Jossverse somewhere, where Alan Tudyk is sitting around in his Hawaiian shirt drinking a beer, waiting for the crew to come pick him up.

And I just have to share this, because no one else in my house understands -- I've spent three days with The Man They Call Jayne going through my head, and it won't go away.
