Just wanted to come over here and say hello. Hello especially to Mara_jade3, who has been bugging me incessantly to join. I did! See!!!

Should I say something about myself and what I like to write??

I am married. No kids. I have 1 dog. He is the best dog ever! I live in California and have lived here all my life. Right now I am way into Star Wars and the wonderful group I am a part of: the IEFF and playing Halo3 on Xbox Live!! I love movies. I love to read. I like to write. That sounds blasphemous, doesn't it? Writing is something I don't love right now....because it drives me crazy. I have too many ideas and I can't just pick one and then I change my mind. I am working on not being wishy washy. I just need to pick something and go with it. I am never happy with what I have. I have finished two story. Ever. And the first one took several years. This was in high school. And it was just high school related drivel. :D Anyway, I am working on a fantasy story now and am experiencing procrastination and indecision once again.

That is my rant and small information about me and I'm sticking to it.

Welcome, SO!! I'm sooooo glad you finally joined. I'm praying this place gets you motivated. You're such a good writer and have helped me so much with my novel, so you need to get some confidence in yourself. :) Writing wise. :) I can't wait to help you with your fantasy novel and I hope you like it here.

I've experienced the sort of indecision that you're describing. My advice is to write all your ideas!

Sound crazy? Well maybe it is. Crazy like a fox...or, um, a Monkey, anyway. :D

When you have an idea, just write it. Do a stream of conciousness ramble if need be, but write. When you have another idea, stop and write that one, too. You'll end up with a ton of little snippets, false starts, and odd rants. Great! Now you can say, "Yes, I'm a writer. What am I working on? Oh, a little of everything...I have fourteen projects in the works..."

Then, when the smoke clears, there'll be some of those ideas that won't seem cool now that they're actually typed out. Move them to a reject folder. Losers.

There'll be others that still seem cool. You'll probably feel that one of them is easier to continue than the others, even if that one isn't your favorite. Fine. Write that one. When you get bored or start thinking about a different one, then switch. And switch again. Switch as many times as you feel like it, until one or two start to rise above the rest. They may not have started as your favorites, but that's Ok. Unexpected turns and frenzied creativity are to be cherished.

The best thing about this plan is that it actually gets you writing. There is no better way to improve, and getting started is often the hardest part.

Monkey, thanks for the advice. I keep a small notebook on me now so that I can write things down. It helps. I have four stories in progress right now. All are fantasy. I hope I can just get one story written out.
