I've friended my agent on Facebook. He's not terribly active, but then again, neither am I. I tend to go in spurts.

And I'm with you Jill--I ignore so many plants/fish/hugs/coffee requests it's insane.

My facebook is for writing community and soe personal friends, but I'm pretty good about cleaning it up if someone makes a mess on my wall (incase the parents look). I odn't know if my agent has clients on hers or not....I just noticed she had a page when I was looking at some other profiles.
My friend tried to tell me following someone on twitter and facebooking them is the same, but I disagree. Twitter is less personal. You follow out of interest. FAcebook just seems....I don't know. Am I making sense?

Asymmetric follow. Twitter is impersonal because you can follow a person's tweets without bothering them. Facebook, you can't friend them unless they friend you back, so you're intruding more. I enjoy following a bunch of people on Twitter, but I wouldn't bother them on Facebook.

My agent is my Facebook friend. She's not on very often, but she did comment that she was glad I was on FB, have a blog, all that stuff.

Wow, so maybe my friend was write. She just swore most writers were probably friends with their agents on FB. lol. It was actually a fairly long argument, but I think I won the Twitter vs. FAcebook debate.

If you aren't comfortable with it, I don't think it's a big deal if you don't friend your agent. I doubt mine would be up all night fretting had I not sent her a friend request. I agree with you about Twitter. I follow agents and editors on Twitter (when I bother to read it) and I would *never* friend them on FB.

ETA: Well, not never. If one of the editors became MY editor, I would.

It's not that I"m uncomfortable with it, I just thought it would be so weird of me to add her. IDK. I"m not that shy, but I am when it comes to adults, I guess. I friend tons of teenagers from AW, and lots of AW adults have friended me, but it's just a weird thing to ask "will you be my friend?" I had issues sending a request to my brother. lol. I'm just strange that way, though.

Since my FB page is mostly for my writing and writing friends, I friended my agent. He just started on FB though and only has like 6 people right now anyway.

my agent is on FB and I have not friended her. My FB is a pretty personal space, and I think it might be weird for her. Besides, I want to be able to bitch about revisions in my status update without worrying about hurting her feelings.

Next year I'll probably start a professional FB under my penname... maybe I'll friend her with that.

while i sincerely doubt mine is on fb I feel pretty much the same as you.

We're not friends, so i don't really get why i'd want to friend her were she on.

I also friended my agent on FB. We have a pretty casual relationship anywho. I also dragged her kicking and screaming onto Twitter. It was for her own good.

Sorry about the pass, Jen. And congrats to those out on sub.

I would friend/follow my agent, but she isn't on Facebook or Twitter. I did find her on LinkedIn though.

My problem with Facebook is unrelated to writing -- my organization has a fan page and members of my Board of Directors have become my "friends" on my personal page. Kind of not an option to say no. Let's just say my personal page has gotten a lot less personal.

In more related news, I'm supposed to be getting a sub list this week. That would be fun.

This is a break from my usual pattern. I don't often talk about the quality of my writing--or lack thereof. But I just received a wonderful compliment from the guy I freelance for. I sent him a new CD review and because he's asked about my progress, I let him know that 8 houses are reading my ms. He replied, 8 places fighting over you is great! I sent back that I didn't want to mislead him--they were reading, not fighting, although I wouldn't say no to the latter.

He just sent back: I've read your writing. I choose to believe they're fighting over it.

*blush* *blush*

May everyone here have someone as complimentary on their team!

So this is the place to rant about waiting and more waiting. I see...well, I'm pulling up a chair and settling in for more waiting.

And I'm in the on-sub-for-a-long-time list. We started subbing December/January. Hoping that I'm finally coming to decision time. But until then, pass me the goodies. It's been a long wait.

I really am not thinking about my sub. Yesterday I solved a plot point in my head for the new WIP, so did some writing last night. Still waiting to hear about edits for the one agent now has. Just keep writing *sung to the tune of Just Keep Swimming*

Okay, agent is supposed to be back from vacation, so I emailed off my "homework": synopsis and jacket blurb. Now I wait. Well, at least I know how to do that.

Still waiting for revision notes from my editor. I e-mailed her last week when I was having e-mail access issues, hoping that she might offer a little more info as to when I'd be getting those. But she didn't, she just said thanks. (which was better than not answering at all, but still.)
