Try untangling it? Impossible. Try cutting off the teeth of the comb with wire clippers? Doesn't help. Try cutting the comb into pieces? Doesn't help. Just cut the hair. And don't let them go to bed with a comb in the first place. Here's my nine-year-old.

Considering the fact that my wife and I laughed throughout the entire process, I'd say you're a considerably better person than me.

Mine did that last year. We broke the comb with kitchen shears and eventually got her untangled. What a mess!

Oh boy...that's tough.

I laughed too. Can't help it...it's funny!

(I'm guessing it's not for her though!)

As a child I had a comb stuck in my hair, much like your daughter's tangled mess. And once my mom had to cut bubble gum out of my hair. Why did I got to sleep with bubble gum? I have no idea.

I can feel her pain.

(and I still laughed too.)

My wife laughs at things like that, too. I remember how traumatized I was when my parents laughed at me as a child and I try my best not to.

The hardest thing about being a parent is not laughing 1) when they're in pain / discomfort, 2) when they do something naughty, 3) when they throw a tantrum, 4) when they crack off a really clever cut-down of their siblings. It's a skill I still have barely developed, even after 12 years of parenting.

I have to walk away from my kids to avoid laughing very frequently.

It's terrible. I have a bad giggle-reflex and they bring it out in a big way. Every now and then Mr. Stew and I just look at each other and crack up when one of them does something we shouldn't laugh at. I've learned not to look at him in those moments, and still I have to walk away.

AW. A very nice place!
...unless your kid happens to have spilt pepper and salt on their bed. Combs are great at seperating the two and making for an easier clean up, while also allowing the former to be tossed under the nostrils of a parent to get them to,
Achoo, Achoo :)

#2-3 is tough.

A while ago my five-year-old was unhappy with me because I wanted to sit down for a five minutes and look at a magazine. I wouldn't give in, and said I needed five minutes.

He walked out of the room, and then came back in with the cordless phone and demanded "What's Nanna's number?"

I dialed my mom for him, and handed the phone back. He poured his heart out to her on the phone and suggested that she put me in time out. I had a very difficult time keeping a straight face.

(After he was done, my mom told me I had to sit in time out for five minutes).

My daughter did that too. Luckily we got it out. I also got one of those evil, hard toothed, round brush curling irons stuck in my hair and after spending 15 minutes getting it out I did it again for the next curl. I threw it away.

Priceless picture, though.

It's not even safe to let them take their own hair to bed, at our house:

You don't happen to have a bottle of Show Sheen for horses sitting around? It really helps with the detangling. They sell detangling products for hoomans (although you can't beat Show Sheen). Break the comb, grease the hair and gently work it loose.

Yeah...what is it with guys?

They're always so nervous and weird when we suggest cutting something -anything off. (My Ex wouldn't watch me cut carrots.....)

But when it comes to long beautiful...albeit tangled hair:

'Cut it off'

Hair takes 30 min with a blow dryer to dry..

'Cut it off'.

Guys....stop suggesting that we cut our hair at the slightest provocation......

and you won't have to worry about.....

....other things we may consider cutting off.:D

you martyr and shine.
III, my oldest sister did that in first grade with the comb they gave her for picture day, right before it was time to get her picture taken. This is the stuff family legends are made of.

VO 5 Conditioning Hair Dress.

I had a small roller brush stuck right on back of the crown of my head. I was panicking - believe me.

VO 5 helped me 'slicky' it loose. Took a little effort, lost some hair, but I didn't have to cut it out. Which would have sucked - big time.

I hope you didn't cut it. :(
