You Don't Need to Be
Crazy to Write, But It Helps

The bedroom is tidy,
The kitchen is clean.
The living room sparkles,
The bathroom, pristine.
I've mopped and I've dusted,
I've bleached my blues white.
No excuses are left--
Now I really must write!

Though normal folks complain
That Christmas comes too fast,
Writers know December means
That next June's almost passed!

"Promises, Promises"
Some publications pay by check,
Free copies come from others.
And then there are the ones
Whom if I had my druthers…
They promise payment in prestige,
Or fame-- it's such a coup!
But tell your friends and family this
And they'll just say: "Huh? Who?"
