Letter to the Editor By Anne E. Skalitza
Dear Submissions Editor (the venerated acquisitor),
It's rumored when you called for entries they were read by fledgling sentries. I read the guidelines to a "t," enclosed my stamped SAE. Six months passed and finally word, you felt my novel quite absurd.
What really happened was just this (and I believe I'm not remiss): you ordered all submissions thrown to the vast and great unknown. You rubbed your hands in brazen glee while you published celebrities.
Well, let me tell you, Nameless One, I shall not become a writer shunned. I'll become an actor or sing and be the next author-slash-celebrity. With all the money I'll collect I'll finally earn your respect.
My writing prowess won't matter much; I'll already be within your clutch. I'll write drivel, I'll write inane, I won't even have to use my brain! Problem is, I'll never see the writer I set out to be.
Best regards, One of your discards
