Finding the Bacon: Market Listings

We've listed a few markets for fitness in the past, but in this issue we'd like to concentrate on all-around good health. I've checked with several health websites and found they no longer accept freelance work (although that could change quickly) so, as with the other "Bacon" editions, this listing contains print venues.

Of special note, however, I'd like to pass the following along. A magazine's editor informed me the magazine was withdrawing from all listings, even the Writer's Digest listing. The reason behind the decision was: too many writers did not pay attention to their guidelines and sent in queries and manuscripts that were very wrong for the publication. The editor was nice enough to send me the guidelines and I found them very precise. I was once an articles editor for an alternative romance site (ghost, sci-fi, etc.) and found people would send in just about anything, so I understand what the health magazine's editor was saying. For those of you who use this listing and other listings, please make sure your submissions comply with a publication's needs.
