submit, but it looked like a lot of fun, and it'll be great practice in writing
against deadlines. :-) Cheers, Moira STORY and ESSAY competition "Womenspace has decided to document the last thirty years of
Canadian women's progress towards equality - and a better world for all - with a
timeline and a contest. We'll share what we have compiled, and we'd like you to

equality? Has the women's movement touched your life, opened doors for you,
changed your way of thinking? "TELL US YOUR STORY in 750 to 1000 words, and make it evocative. We
want to know what the timeframe was, how old you were, what you were wearing,

what you cooked (recipes welcome). "Entries may include images - photographs, drawings, etc. Limit of
3 accompanying images per entry. "We welcome writing which covers a diversity of women, backgrounds,

Austen's Life and Works. "In all of Jane Austen's fiction, home and family play a
significant though complex role, sometimes providing nurture, sometimes (even

and theme; · The ways the needs of courting couples might conflict with the

issues through her images of home and family. "You may wish to limit your discussion to only one work. Essays

contest "The Institute for Brand Leadership is a center for brand
education. It was established in 1997 by Alan Bergstrom to promote brand
excellence. The Institute's vision is a democratic one. We believe that
educating the public about branding can help individuals and organizations alike
reach their highest potential. Our mission is to share brand
knowledge-particularly leading-edge analysis, information and ideas-with the
greatest audience possible, in a practical and useful form. To that end, we
initiate and engage in projects that facilitate open communication about
branding, particularly between academics and practitioners in this field "Like it or not, branding is something that you personally
experience every day of your life. Starbucks coffee, Nike sneakers, Gap jeans,
even Q-tips cotton swabs-brands are becoming an ever more pervasive aspect of
consumers' lives around the world. Whether you love brands, hate them, or don't
care, we at the Institute for Brand Leadership believe that you have insight
into why they have become so powerful. We want you to share that knowledge with
us-speaking from the perspective of your discipline. "Specifically, we want you to apply a theory (or set of theories),
from a particular discipline or area of study to answer the following question:
"Why and under what conditions are people more likely to buy brand names
rather than their generic counterparts?" If you are studying sociology, for
example, you might tell us what Marx, Durkheim, Weber, Simmel, Habermas,
Foucault, and/or Giddens would have to say about this-what connections can you
make between theory and the power that brands enjoy today? "We are looking for original thinking grounded in a specific
discipline, so you may want to include some relevant research or quotes.
However, please do not include footnotes. Instead, integrate your sources into
the text, and include a separate sheet of paper with a bibliography."

amount by any definite time; this does not count as a professional sale. "Entries must be either science fiction or fantasy, less than 7,500
words long, and the original work of the person submitting them. "The final round judge(s) will be announced in coming months. They
will be well-known professional Science Fiction and Fantasy writers. Entries

writer when I grew up. I realised a year or so back that there's not that
many decades left for me get grown up, and so I'm working part time at learning
how to be a writer. Besides my column here, I write a weekly article on
Women Abuse for Suite101.com - not a pretty subject, but if you have the
stomach, check it out at http://www.suite101.com/welcome.cfm/women_abuse
