Review of Sex-Writer.com Ahh, smut. Call it what you like-- porn, erotica, trash, sex writing-- regardless of the words you use, if writing it interests you, you'll want to check out Katy Terrega's new site, www.sex-writer.com. The simple layout leads you to the three main sections of the site: market listings, interviews, and articles. Each is of high value to the sex writer. Of the 119 market guidelines included here, 17 of them are non-paying. There are currently no markets listed that report pay rates of more than 50 cents a word. So if you're looking to get filthy rich with your filth, good luck. But if you're looking for a fun outlet and some side cash, you won't find this many current listings for sex markets anywhere else. These aren't just the magazines you see behind the counters at convenience stores-- we're talking phone sex websites in the U.K., print newsletters with cult followings, anthologies for every predilection, e-publishers who want how-to sex guides... truly, it would take eons to find this many markets on your own. Most articles on the site are instructive and specific, such as how to sell reprints of a sex story, how to use dirty words effectively, and how to write porn reviews. The remaining articles are personal and reflective, dealing with issues like a publisher going belly-up, what the neighbors will think, and answering the porn vs. erotica debate. The interviews are with editors at magazines like Playgirl and Swank, along with successful sex writers who share tips about how they broke in and what they sell, plus answering questions about whether or not their families know what they do, why they write porn, and what a typical work day is like for them. The site is regularly updated, with new markets frequently added. Katy, who is the author of It's a Dirty Job: Writing Porn for Fun and Profit, says she created the site so that subscribers to her newsletter and those who read her books could have an easily-accessed and organized place to go whenever they were searching for markets for their work. Katy has recently added a blog to the site, plus a brag page for subscribers. It costs $10.95 for a six-month subscription. V. Rhodes doesn't feel like having a bio today.
