Except that a bunch of slow buggers drive in the left lane anyway, driving the rest of us nuts!
I try to pass on whichever side bothers others less. Until I've done that all day, get sick of it, and start walking straight and over to one side very clearly. If you can't swerve, you're toast. I can't be the one yielding all day... just No.
I say excuse me, especially to the kids of families who have them spread over 15 feet. Fair warning, you know?
In airports and subways, etc., I always squish far to the right side of whatever conveyor/escalator I'm on. I Hate It when folks don't expect others to pass. Tourists can be clueless on that one a little often.

Interesting. And ya know, with women, sometimes one boob is bigger than the other.
Either I simply don't understand the question or I have not given my pedestrian-passing behaviours but I have not the foggiest clue whether I pass on the left or right. It simply just does not register in my head that I have a preference. Hm, will have to do some investigation.
